I'd like to wish all my fellow Lunar New Year celebrants a happy and prosperous new year! As always, the occasion involved too much eating, some red-pocket-receiving and lots of family fun.

Christmas celebrations (and feasts) only go on for 2 days - this, lasted the entire WEEK!

So, here are some of the food highlights. Please note the operative word is "highlight" - impossible to post every single dish up!!!

Happy New Year lovelies! Sydney's fireworks lived up to expectations (and costs considering how much was involved in making it happen)!

Hope you all welcomed 2012 with a bang (literally). It was a casual celebration for yours truly, sitting on the lawn amongst wonderful friends, snacking and sipping away as we count down to the 9pm and midnight fireworks. Couldn't ask for a better view, thanks to my dear friend for being so conveniently located in McMahon's point where our view was the one and only Harbour Bridge!

A few snapshots from the Christmas weekend - eve and day.

The feast was held at my sister's pad and the menu included (as pictured above):

• 2.5kg of prawns - all nicely peeled by yours truly
• Turkey, ham and prosciutto platter
• Scallops wrapped in a layer of prosciutto and glazed by ginger + shallots soy sauce
• My sticky date and banana pudding

Please note, not the entire menu is pictured above as they were your typical salad, chicken, skewers etc - not as interesting. 

I guess the highlight for me was that the sticky date and banana pudding turned out "visually" better than I expected considering I had to improvise by using a normal eating bowl for the shape outline! The taste? Well, let's just say everyone had a clean plate =p


Normally I'd wear an old red dress on Christmas day and just throw on a really casual outfit since we're usually indoors in the comfort of family. This year, we went to mass on Christmas eve so wore something a little better  but not too dressed up.

Guilty as charged, I'm a slacker when it comes to posting about my personal life. It's a little contradicting when my profile summary claims that all you will be seeing on this blog would be "see what she wears, see what she eats"....i.e my culinary food adventures and personal style snaps!

Bridesmaids

Nobody warned me about the responsibilities and duties involved in being a bridesmaid. I thought it was all glitz and glamour - free dress, free shoes, free makeover, free hairstyling sessions and so on - like woo hoo! Little did I know that by accepting to be a bridesmaid for someone, would require you to put in so much planning, commitment, dedication, effort and even money!

My sister's wedding is fast approaching and we still have so much preparation and planning to do - albeit, so little time! Thus far, the bridesmaids and I had planned and executed the best Kitchen Tea/ Bridal Shower party ever(according to us)! The kitchen tea was held on Sunday at the maid of honour's humble home (try saying that fast out loud) and what a success it was! All the guests complimented on the food and participated in the games!

guilty pleasures

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the amount of facebook check-ins at the gym, status updates regarding some form of physical workout and whatnot has increased dramatically.
This marks the question, "are we all becoming more concerned with our image"? Is obesity socially regarded as a health issue or an image issue?

Whatever the trend is, I've never been one to read what a food product contains, whether it's "good" for you or not. No, not sure how many calories or kilojoules is in that, sorry! If it's yummy, it's going in my belly - at any given time, at any given day. An entire bar of chocolate at 8am in the morning? Why not?!

So I've always been more into my savoury goods than my desserts, I'd much prefer hot chips over a bar of chocolate, so when it comes to finding the right place for a quick sweet-tooth-fix, I am limited to choice. If you have recommendations/suggestions, I'd love to hear it!

Totally random post dinner food outing - passion flower for 2 and a mega slice of pizza at the kebab shop. Well, because we can :)
As it was a totally random night, threw an outfit together and voila! I am a firm believer that one can NEVER have too much accessories (and bags and shoes, and what the heck, clothes too) - I love to spice up every outfit with accessories!
